Blender: Modelando una Yamaha FZ. Parte 4

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 8th. Part.

In this tutorial we start tweaking the model that is basically done. We give it a better proportion and we give it a less sharp angular shape to it.

This is the render for today's video:

Remember that we talk about two different ways of sharpen the roundness given by the subdivision surface, the first, adding edge loops (by pressing Ctrl+R) and the other one is increasing the Mean Crease from 0 to... the number that fits your preferences the best way.

A breakdown for the video:

  • Fixing proportions for arm (by scaling o X axis) and chest (by decreasing it on the Y axis)
  • Addition of the Subdivision surface modifier (Ctrl+2 or any number you wish to try)
  • Addition of edge loops in order fo us to sharpen the excesive roundness given by Subdivision Surface
  • Selecting edges to sharpen and then doing it by increasing the Mean Crease (N key to show up the right pannel and then go to Transform and find Mean Crease)
  • Addition of a cylinder to create the exhasut pipes

Blender: Modling Optimus Prime Power Master. 5th Part.

In this tutorial we see how to model the legs of the robot, along with the material assignment for each part.

As I say in the video, there are a couple of details that I still need to fix about proportions, but I will do it at the end of the series.

This is the render for today's update:

A little breakdown for the video:

  • Inset creation from the waist (with I key) to extrude the first part of the leg
  • Extrusion and scaling of the leg to create the bottom part (blue part) of the leg
  • Edge loops to create the creaveses of the legs
  • Material assignment for legs
Here you have the video:

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 4th Part

In this tutorial we get to do the chest and waist for the big Prime, so we can start with arms and legs in the next one.

We might still work on proportions, but nothing to be worried about.

However, this is the final render (for this part, of course):

A little breakdown of the video:

  • We add a cube to star the chest, being in edit mode, so it gets affected by the mirror modifier.
  • We assign the materials.
  • We add another cube for the radiator and we add some edge loops (Ctrl+R) and we select every other face and then extrude them inwards to make the holes fo the radiator.
Here is the video:

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 3rd. Part

In this tutorial we start modeling the chest of the big Prime, and we give it a couple materials, and we see the way different materials have to be given to a single mesh (object).

We assign two different materials to a single cube, that we have mirrorred using the modifier. We give it a Glossy material (for the metalic part) and also we give it a Glass material for the chest windows.

Here is the render:

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 2nd. part

Nope, you are not reading incorrectly. It is no more generation one Optimus, but Power Master version. Anyway, I finish with the modeling of the head, including the materials that will have, meaning, the glossiness and the colors.

As you heard, the image that I got as model is not, at all, an adecuate image, since you need to guess the shapes front, side and back (another words, a good base image needs to be straight front, and side images, if they are blueprints, even better). However, we manage to give it the look of the image with the tools we had on hand.

Just a little breakdown of the video:

Extrusion: You press E and, if you want it on a specific axis, you press the letter for the axis (X, Y or Z).
Scaling: You press S.
Selecting all the edges of a loop: Ctrl+Alt+Right click, over one of the edges you want to select.
Proportional editing: That is edit a vertex and all the vertices around it, as big as the scope of the edition is (you can modify the proportion or scope by scrolling with the mouse wheel).
Materials: Click on materials button and you select the shader and the color of the material you want for the object or the faces you have selected.

Here is a render of how we did today:

And here is the video (I failed to my own promise, and made a HUGE video again, sorry):

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Generation 1. 1st. Part

This is the first (actually the second) english tutorial for my blog, hopping it wouldn't be so annoying for you (because of the accent) and, more important, hopping this will help you out with your Blender skills. I have to say, this series of tutorials were asked for facebook user Steven Elyakamal, who kindly asked me to do this, so, again, I hope this will help.

As you can see, we will be modeling Optimus Prime Generation 1, from scratch, with the help of the background images, so we start (all of the video) with the head of the autobots leader.

Please note there are not couloring on this tutorial, which means the material will be added later. Besides, there is a little mistake (omission I should say) and is that you should constraint the view of the image to a single view, using this option:

Here is a render of the final result (final for this tutorial only, of course):

And here is the video:

Besides, if you want to download the .blend file, you can do it by click on the folloing link:
