Blender: Creando un juego. Parte XVI

Blender. Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 10th Part.

Final part of these series, we model the Autobots logo and also we give the big Prime a texture, so it's not "that perfect" looking.

This is the final render:

As you can see, there are some details that the texture has added to the whole robot, so it looks like a robot after the battle, and we get that by using the Displace modifier and playing with the Strengh of the texture (Clouds, by the way)

Here is a breakdown of the video:

  • Model (draw, actually) of the logo from a base image and a single vertice.
  • Material (golden) for the logo.
  • Placing of the logo.
  • Addition of the Displace modifier for the robot mesh.
  • Modification of the strengh of the modificer over the mesh.
Here is the video:

Oh! and, by the way, the light part, it's just many planes with an Emission white material added.

Blender. Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 9th Part.

Almost getting to the end, today we see how to apply the modifiers, so we work on a single mesh, instead of a collection of modifiers.

Since I made a single mesh from the mirror modifier, I move the arms/hands so they give the movement sensation.

Here is the current render (with some light sources added):

Here's a breakdown for the video:

  • The exhausting pipe is moved to the back part of the arm.
  • The modifiers are applied from bottom to top (last modifier on the list, goes first)
  • The arms are moved separately to make look a moving robot.
  • Cylinders are added to simulate the joints between arms and hands and chest to arms.
Here is the video:

Inkscape: Dibujando a Ironman. Parte 1

Blender: Modeling Optimus Prime Power Master. 8th. Part.

In this tutorial we start tweaking the model that is basically done. We give it a better proportion and we give it a less sharp angular shape to it.

This is the render for today's video:

Remember that we talk about two different ways of sharpen the roundness given by the subdivision surface, the first, adding edge loops (by pressing Ctrl+R) and the other one is increasing the Mean Crease from 0 to... the number that fits your preferences the best way.

A breakdown for the video:

  • Fixing proportions for arm (by scaling o X axis) and chest (by decreasing it on the Y axis)
  • Addition of the Subdivision surface modifier (Ctrl+2 or any number you wish to try)
  • Addition of edge loops in order fo us to sharpen the excesive roundness given by Subdivision Surface
  • Selecting edges to sharpen and then doing it by increasing the Mean Crease (N key to show up the right pannel and then go to Transform and find Mean Crease)
  • Addition of a cylinder to create the exhasut pipes
